USS Fort Worth Arrives

The United States Navy (USN) Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) USS Fort Worth arrived at Singapore’s Changi Naval Base today. Amid the search operations of the Air Asia flight, media event was cancelled today. Nonetheless, we welcome USS Fort Worth and wishes Godspeed to the search team from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia.

For those who are keen, this deployment will be the longest USN deployment since USS Midway record breaking tour 40 years ago. USS Fort Worth is different from the Freedom for it is a longer vessel and deployed the MQ-8B FireScout VTUAV, which will enhance aerial surveillance over longer periods.

Edit: The destroyer in the background is the USS Sampson, which has been deployed in the QZ8501 search.
